UAE National Sports Day will be celebrated on Thursday March 7th 2019, where the focus will be on everything sports and fitness related. Everyone from children to seniors will be invited to participate for free.
The event is one of the biggest in Abu Dhabi’s community calendar and this year will be held at Zayed Cricket Stadium located in Khalifa City A, and on UAE National Sports Day, the stadium will be showcasing over 40 different sporting activities, with everything from Jiu Jitsu and Archery to Taekwondo and Football.
UAE National Sports day will run from 9:00 until 23:00, with the UAE Walk for Tolerance 2019 taking place at 9.30am which will be see VIPs and dignitaries in attendance. You can get involved in the the 2.5 km walk which will take you around the stadium.
Skydive Dubai will be offering an adrenaline fix on the day, as they fly from Dubai to Abu Dhabi and jump from their plane right into the stadium
Kids and grown-ups alike will have the chance to get involved, from perfecting your footie skills with a penalty shoot-out, get your skates on to learn how to play roller hockey, or if you fancy being a modern-day Robin Hood there are also archery lessons on offer too.
If you prefer more skill based challenges, you can take part the Touch Rugby ‘Hit the target’ skills test, Human chess from Abu Dhabi Chess and Culture Club where challengers can attempt to beat the chess master, or enter the Capital Netball - Netball stars’ 20 skills’ challenge.
Included on the day will also be demonstrations of Sepak Takraw (kick volleyball), Muay Thai/Kickboxing and the Equestrian vs K9 Jump Off challenge which will see horses from the Dhabian Equestrian Club and Dogs from the Abu Dhabi Police K9 unit competing against each other.
Females of Abu Dhabi will be well catered for on the day with a ladies’ running sessions organised by Fatima Bint Mubarak Academy and special fitness classes arranged by the Abu Dhabi Ladies Club. The UAE Women’s National Team will also be inviting you to learn how to play table football on the day.
The Future Falcons will be promoting golf to the young attendees at the event, showing tips and tricks for the best shots, as well as having a longest putt/closet to the hole competition.
