Updated: Jun 24, 2022

A multi-sensory immersive experience will be the latest addition to Saadiyat Cultural District, as Abu Dhabi continues to build on its reputation as a cultural capital offering unique and inspiring experiences that spur creativity and innovation

teamLab Phenomena will become a ‘home for infinite curiosity’ and feature an architectural vision and captivating artworks based on teamLab’s original concept of environmental phenomena.

Set to open in 2024, the 17,000sqm building will offer the chance to open your mind and embark on a journey through teamLab’s new concept of environmental phenomena, providing a new perspective on the world around us. The featured artworks are created and shaped by the environment which produces the various phenomena.

Take a sneak peek:

To celebrate the official launch of the project, DCT Abu Dhabi has announced a preview for you to experience immersive artworks that embody the concept of ‘infinite curiosity’ ahead of the opening. Between 24 June - 17 July you can go on a journey of wonder and sensory exploration at Mamsha Al Saadiyat from 24 June to 17 July.

Located opposite Society Coffee shop (just past Antonia restaurant), you'll see a dedicated building to teamLab Phenomena and once entering you'll immediately be struck by the digital artwork encouraging you to 'discover' what's inside. The first of the two featured art installations is called Waves of light, a continuous screen that features the waves of the sea and interprates how all oceans and waves are connected together, and how each wave is part of a larger flow, simliar to living entities.

The second installation, Resonating Microcosms - Solidified Light Colour, experiments with ovoids (egg shaped structures), which change into 61 newly-defined solidified light colours. This interactive exhibition also allows for interaction and when an ovoid is pushed, it shines brightly and emits a sound tone.

teamLab Phenomena is set to join The Saadiyat Cultural District which will soon also include the Zayed National Museum, the national museum of the UAE; Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, focusing on global Modern and Contemporary art; and the Abrahamic Family House, which will comprise three religious spaces in one complex – a mosque, a synagogue and a church – to inspire and nurture acceptance and peaceful coexistence among people of all faiths.
