This weekend we had a little staycation at Le Royal Meridien Abu Dhabi which included a stay in a corner deluxe suite, dinner in District by Amalfi and breakfast in Cafe Palmier.
Three point review:
1-#the suite was lovely, and offered enough room for two adults and one child. The bedroom was separated by a small wall but in the evening was made completely private by a blind that was pulled down during their turndown service. The entire space consisted of a lounge area, dining area, bedroom, massive hallway and bathroom.
2-#dinner was in District by Amalfi, which has undergone a revamp to an urban pizzeria style of restaurant. The menu looks really cool with pizza, platters, main courses including pea and lobster risotto and interesting desserts, but we felt the flavours were lacking a little in a few dishes on our visit. The caramelised onion on the potato pizza was definitely welcome as it added some oomph to the taste!
3-#breakfast in Cafe Palmier was nice however we arrived around 10am and found that a lot of the specialty made yogurt dishes (which we like to start with) were already finished. So we would advise to get there earlier to make sure you get to taste it all! They had a live egg station, cool little juice shots, lots of varieties of water and lots of fresh fruit and veg. The fruit was really tasty!
#ADRtip 1 - the outdoor pool is unavailable at the moment as their Ramadan tent is currently standing over it, however they do have an indoor pool that also has a small jacuzzi. But if you do want to swim outdoors, they will give you a voucher to use the pool of a neighbouring hotel.
#ADRtip 2 - the tv channels are more suited to Arabic speakers, so if you do want to watch something else or you have kids, take a USB or your device to hook up to the TV, as it allows for that.
#ADRfave - the team were extremely helpful and when we needed a HDMI cable to link our laptop to the TV, their engineering team brought one up to us in record time!
